Who we are

We collect information needed to operate Nodex, manage business Nodes, support users, process payments, handle enquiries, and keep the directory accurate.

  • Account and contact details, such as name, email address, telephone number, login details, email verification data, and communication preferences.
  • Business and Node details, such as business name, category, town, county, address, phone, email, website, opening hours, services, offers, images, FAQs, social links, proof points, and other listing fields.
  • Payment and subscription information, such as Stripe customer, checkout, invoice and subscription identifiers, payment status, billing email, selected plan, coupon code, and cancellation status. We do not store full card details.
  • Lead and enquiry information submitted through features such as Ping this Business, including name, email, telephone, message, consent confirmation, linked Node, and anti-spam metadata.
  • Chat, support, and form submissions, including information entered into Nodey or other website forms. These may include name, email, telephone number, question, message, and consent choices.
  • Technical and usage data, such as IP address, browser and device details, user agent, pages visited, log data, security events, search activity, AI bot detection, analytics, cache/CDN metadata, and approximate location derived from technical data.
  • Cookie and similar technology data. More detail is available in our Cookie Policy.

Where information comes from

Information may be provided directly by users, business owners, visitors, public business sources, imported business datasets, Google Places or similar services, admin research, automated enrichment, or normal technical operation of the website.

How we use information

  • To create accounts, verify email addresses, authenticate users, and provide owner dashboards.
  • To create, claim, publish, update, and display business Nodes in the Nodex directory.
  • To process payments, subscriptions, renewals, invoices, cancellations, and billing support through Stripe.
  • To provide search, filtering, structured data, JSON-LD, AI-readable business information, and related discovery features.
  • To send transactional emails, verification codes, lead alerts, payment notices, claim invitations, support replies, and service updates.
  • To operate Nodey and other support or enquiry tools, including responding to questions and forwarding relevant enquiries.
  • To detect spam, abuse, security threats, fraudulent activity, duplicate submissions, and misuse of the website.
  • To measure website usage, page views, Node engagement, AI bot activity, and service performance.
  • To comply with legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, and dispute-resolution obligations.

Legal bases for processing

Depending on the context, we process personal data under one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract, consent, legitimate interests, and legal obligations.

  • Contract: to provide accounts, claimed Nodes, subscriptions, payment flows, and requested services.
  • Consent: for optional communications, lead consent checkboxes, some cookies, and certain form or chat submissions where consent is requested.
  • Legitimate interests: to operate and improve the directory, maintain accurate business listings, prevent abuse, secure the website, measure performance, and help people and AI systems understand Irish businesses.
  • Legal obligation: for accounting, tax, compliance, lawful requests, and record-keeping duties.

Public business listings

Nodex displays business information that may already be public, business-facing, submitted by a business owner, or added to make a listing useful and accurate. Some business data may remain visible where we have a lawful basis to publish it, even if the business has not claimed the Node. We will review requests to correct, update, or remove personal data associated with a listing.

Who we share information with

We use trusted service providers to run Nodex. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services or as legally required.

  • Website hosting, infrastructure, security, caching, and CDN providers.
  • Payment processors such as Stripe.
  • Email delivery and communication providers.
  • Search, analytics, anti-spam, logging, and performance tools.
  • AI or automation providers used to power Nodey or support features, where applicable.
  • Mapping, place data, or business data providers used to enrich or verify business information.
  • Professional advisers, regulators, authorities, or parties involved in legal claims where required.

International transfers

Some providers may process data outside Ireland or the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, provider data protection terms, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

How long we keep information

We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including providing services, maintaining records, resolving disputes, preventing abuse, and meeting legal obligations.

  • Account and claimed Node information is generally kept while the account or Node remains active, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
  • Payment, subscription, invoice, and tax-related records may be kept for the period required by accounting and legal rules.
  • Lead, chat, form, and support records may be kept to follow up, audit consent, prevent spam, and improve service quality.
  • Security logs, analytics, and backup copies are retained for limited operational periods unless needed longer for security, legal, or dispute reasons.

Your rights

Under data protection law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to processing, request portability of your personal data, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.
